I think that I got it right.
Doc Samson said that I should use this space to talk about my feelings of recent events and get feedback from people about what THEY think about those recent events so I can better understand social norms, thus making me more confident. And, some other stuff. I forget.
So, there was a fire and it was scary. But I got to help out and that felt good. There was a little baby horse that was hurt and I felt really bad for it. I hope it is okay.
It was fun going out clubbing! Paige was being all silly about what she was wearing before we left. Amanda was being all silly about me having to wear leather before we left. I borrowed stuff and got to be dressed up. It was fun. I guess I really never thought about how clothes are like an artform/communication-thing before. I don't know how to express that thought.
I went to the meeting and joined Red X! I will get to learn all sorts of things about helping people. I'm very excited about this, because I think that I want to help people as a job. Maybe?
I also got to go out to the movies with everyone! It was great. And I met Bobby and we had ice cream and I absolutely ADORE ice cream. It was really cool, like Bobby.
Today was something called Easter, and there was also something called Passover before. One is about eating chocolate and the other is about not eating bread? I think there was stuff in my history book about them. They are like Christmas and the lighting-candles-holiday-that-I-can't-spell, right? I remember those from the institution, because everyone was sad. But Easter and Passover seem to be more happy, so that is good. Plus, my roomies gave me a chocolate egg with a cream filling!

Clothes can say a lot. How you want to be looked at, who you want looking -at- you, what your interests are, even how much money you have - or how much money you want to look like you have.
It can be a bit overwhelming if you have not had to think about it much - and a lot of people do not find it important. *I* don't find it important some days.
Easter is a Christian holiday, that celebrates the fact that we believe Jesus died and returned from the dead. The chocolate is ... secondary. Rather like candy canes on Christmas - it has nothing to do with the holiday, it is just something people added on.
Cadbury Eggs are good. They make ones with caramel and chocolate as well. Which reminds me, if you have not yet had one, I seem to have a large number of peanut-butter-cups in my room from an 'anonymous' gift giver.

Re: ...
I have never really noticed what clothes people wear. Is there a book or something that will tell me what different clothes mean?
Well, adding candy to holidays isn't bad, is it? Except when the candy gets taken away because it will interfere with your meds.
I have not tried peanut-butter-cups! Thank you, I will try one.

There are a few books on it. We could check at the bookstore at the mall.
Has anyone told you about Halloween yet?
I am lucky in that regard. Chocolate helps my headaches, so I am encouraged to have it from time to time.
I have two kinds. Regular and white-chocolate. Feel free to come get some. I cannot possibly eat all these.

I'm sure the foal's okay. He wasn't hurt that bad and the vet there's good.
Ice cream is good. Especially Bobby's. And if you haven't had it before, that just means we get to introduce you to a bunch of different flavors. I smell a grocery expedition in the wind. :)
Was it a Cadbury egg? Because those are good too.
Unless you have eight of them in one sitting. Then they kinda get icky.

Yes, it was a Cadbury egg. Yummy. And I bet that I would still like eight of them in one sitting!
From: x_crowdofone

Me too.
And yes we're getting more ice cream soon. Store-bought, unless somebody can convince Bobby to make more. Maybe you can lean on being new and needing to try all new flavors and flatter him outrageously? Could work. :)
See, and a bet like that is exactly why I know they get oogy after around six-and-a-half.

Today is still Passover, and it ends at sundown on Tuesday. It is kind of about not eating bread in memory of the people of Israel's escape from slavery in egypt. The people of Israel didn't have any warning that they were going to have to flee, so they didn't have time to make provisions. That meant they didn't let their bread rise before they cooked it, so in their memory we don't eat any breads that have risen, but instead we have matzah. If you want to try it, you can find me in the kitchen tonight...
Also, the lighting candles holiday is called chanunkah. It's actually a happy holiday about the miracles of God.
It'll be good to have you join us in Red-X! :D

2004-04-12 04:39 am (local)
Matzah? Is that what it's called? I thought I was eating sheets of perforated cardboard. It's horrible! How can you celebrate a joyous occasion with such nauseating food?
From: x_crowdofone
2004-04-12 04:56 am (local)

And it's symbolic, like she said. If you wanna try going back in time and offering Moses catering services, go right ahead. ;)

Hmm.
Ms. Dane, you would not happen to have time travel as a secondary mutation, would you?
From: x_kitten
2004-04-12 10:15 am (local)
Well, you didn't have to have it, and I'm sorry you didn't like it. That will probably teach you to go around eating strange foods stored in the kitchen.
And yes, matzah - see symbolism, see reflection, see memory and history. Shall I be a jerk about your religion in return?
From: x_sanfuaiyaa
2004-04-12 12:59 pm (local)
Note to self: No more experimentation with food. Disaster will result.
I wasn't trying to insult your religion, I was just saying that afflicting yourself to remember what seems to be an auspicious occasion defeats the purpose, no?
And I don't have a religion to insult, per se. Religion in Japan is . . . complicated, to say the least.
From: x_kitten
2004-04-12 02:48 pm (local)
There are good ways to experiment with food - most of them involve having someone who's opinions you trust/respect with you, or else a willingness to be unhappy with some of your experiments.
It's all right. I was out of line, but your response took me off guard. Most people I know don't actively dislike matzah, they just don't particularly like it. And the holiday is about remembering our escape from slavery - there is joy and sorrow intermixed. The joy just wins out.

2004-04-12 08:21 am (local)
Wow, Passover sounds really important. I would like to try your matzah, thank you. Did the people of Israel make it? I mean, I have seen the news and lots of bad things are happening in Israel.
Chanunkah wasn't a very happy holiday at the institution, but I will take your word for it that it was supposed to be.
I am happy to be in Red-X!
From: x_kitten
2004-04-12 09:20 am (local)
Passover is definitely important, but it's not the most important holiday. And you're welcome to the matzah. The stuff I have is store bought, but I know people who make their own. Also, there is a difference between the people of Israel/the children of Israel (which are both just other ways of saying 'Jewish people') and the people in Israel. And yes, a lot of bad things are happening in Israel.
Would you like to hear the story of Chanukah?

Remind me that putting all your fun stuff into one weekend makes for one very sleepy witch come Monday.
Anyway, let's help with your Samson-homework. *grins*
1) I've been in touch with Red, one of the grooms at the farm, and he told me all the horses we brought in that night are doing good. And that includes your little friend.
2) Clubbing is about going out and being seen and having a good time. The leather was mostly a joke that's gotten seriously huge, and I sure as hell ain't going to complain since both my roomies look bloody hot in leather. *winks* And you're right about it being a form of communication. What we wear and how we look is a way we tell other people stuff. I'll have to sit you down and explain the piercings one day.
3) Red X is... a start. I ain't entirely convinced we can change people's attitudes, but we're doing something constructive, and doing things is right by me. I don't trust the speech-making exactly. Words is easy, except when they're for homework.
4) Glad you had fun at the movies with us. I definitely had a good time. And yeah, it was a chance to talk to a couple of people I don't usually as well, tho' it was probably just as well Alex and I didn't meet _before_ I went back to England. Sometimes there's such a thing as too much angst. *grins at Alex*
5) Easter... Other people have covered the rest of it, but I can help you with the egg and bunny part. 'S from ancient pagan fertility rituals, the beginning of Spring, all that stuff. Eggs symbolise fertility, and rabbits the going out and having sex like... rabbits. *grins* Once Christianity got big in Europe, the pagan festivals were forbidden, and the feast days used for significant Christian events, like Christmas being the old Midwinter Festival. Easter's a bit more complicated, what with Passover being involved and all, but the tradition of giving chocolate comes from the pagan part.
